Its formulation is suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial tiling applications, including areas exposed to normal moisture such as bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, terraces, and other interior areas.

The substrate must be sound, clean, stable, and free from dust, loose particles, oil, grease, paint, curing compounds, and other contaminants that may affect adhesion.

ET-220 incorporates a slip-resistant formulation designed to help maintain tile alignment during installation, particularly on vertical surfaces. The controlled slip performance allows installers to position tiles more effectively and helps reduce downward tile movement before the adhesive develops sufficient strength.

This feature makes ET-220 suitable for both floor and wall tile installation where reliable positioning and consistent application are required.

When mixed with clean water according to the recommended mixing procedure, ET-220 produces a smooth and workable cementitious adhesive suitable for professional tile installation.

At an ambient temperature of approximately 27°C, the mixed adhesive provides approximately 30 to 40 minutes of workable time, allowing sufficient time for mixing, application, tile placement, and adjustment.

The adhesive develops bonding strength progressively after installation. Actual performance and setting behaviour may vary depending on substrate condition, tile type, temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness, water dosage, and installation technique.

For areas subject to demanding conditions, always ensure that the substrate and installation system are suitable for the intended application.

A 20 kg pack of ET-220 Grey provides approximately:

45–55 sq. ft.

Coverage is based on application using a 6 mm × 6 mm square-notched trowel with an approximate adhesive bed thickness of 3 mm.

1. Surface Preparation

Ensure that the substrate is sound, stable, clean, and free from dust, dirt, oil, grease, loose particles, paint, curing compounds, and other contaminants. Remove weak or friable material before application.

2. Mixing

Add the recommended quantity of clean water into a clean mixing container. Slowly add ET-220 powder while mixing continuously until a smooth, lump-free paste is obtained. Allow the mixture to mature for the recommended period and remix before use.

3. Adhesive Application

Apply the prepared adhesive onto the substrate using a suitable notched trowel. Spread the adhesive evenly in one direction while maintaining a consistent adhesive bed thickness.

4. Tile Placement

Place the tile firmly onto the freshly applied adhesive and press or slide gently to achieve proper contact. Adjust the tile position while the adhesive remains workable.

5. Tile Contact

Ensure adequate adhesive coverage and proper contact between the tile and substrate. For larger tiles or demanding applications, the appropriate installation technique should be followed to achieve sufficient adhesive coverage.

6. Grouting

Allow the tile installation to develop sufficient strength before grouting. Select a suitable grout according to the tile type, joint width, location, and project requirements.

ET-220 is designed for the recommended interior tile installation applications described above. The following applications are outside the recommended scope of the product:

• Permanent or continuously submerged applications
• Applications where the tile installation remains continuously underwater
• Natural stone fixing for window framing applications
• Applications requiring a specialised adhesive system for natural stone window-frame installation
• Substrates or applications outside the recommended cement-based installation system without prior technical evaluation

For specialised applications, unusual substrates, or conditions outside the recommended scope, consult ETAC technical support before installation.

• Do not add excess water to the adhesive.
• Do not add water after the adhesive has started setting.
• Do not use adhesive that has developed a surface skin.
• Do not remix partially set material by adding additional water.
• Protect freshly installed tiles from excessive movement and impact.
• Actual working time and setting behaviour depend on site conditions.
• Use an appropriate trowel size according to tile size and substrate condition.

Store ET-220 in a cool, dry, and covered area away from direct moisture, water, and excessive humidity. Keep the product in its original sealed packaging until use. Do not store bags directly on wet floors or in areas exposed to rain or moisture.

For best performance, use the product within the shelf life specified on the product packaging.
