ETAC ET-222 is a high-performance Type 2T (C2TE) cement-based tile adhesive specially formulated for reliable installation of vitrified tiles, fully vitrified tiles, glass mosaic tiles, and compatible natural stone on properly prepared cement-based substrates.

A 20 kg bag of ET-222 covers approximately:

45–55 sq. ft.

Coverage is based on application using a 6 mm × 6 mm square-notched trowel with an average adhesive bed thickness of approximately 3 mm.

1. Surface Preparation

Ensure that the substrate is sound, stable, clean, properly cured, and free from dust, dirt, oil, grease, loose particles, paint, curing compounds, and other contaminants. Remove weak or friable material before application.

2. Mixing

Add the recommended quantity of clean water to a clean mixing container. Slowly add ET-222 powder while mixing continuously until a smooth, lump-free paste is obtained. Allow the mixture to mature for the recommended period and remix before application.

3. Adhesive Application

Apply the prepared adhesive to the substrate using a suitable notched trowel. Spread the adhesive evenly in one direction while maintaining a consistent adhesive bed thickness.

4. Tile or Stone Placement

Place the tile or compatible natural stone firmly onto the freshly applied adhesive and press or slide gently to achieve proper contact. Adjust the position as required while the adhesive remains workable.

5. Slip-Resistant Application

ET-222 provides controlled slip resistance that helps reduce downward movement of tiles and compatible natural stone during installation. Check the adhesive surface before placing the material and do not install over adhesive that has developed a surface skin.

6. Open Time

ET-222 provides approximately 2 hours of workable time at 27°C after mixing with water, subject to site conditions. Actual open or workable time may vary with temperature, humidity, substrate absorption, air movement, and adhesive thickness.

7. Grouting

Allow the tile or stone installation to develop sufficient strength before grouting. Select a suitable grout according to tile or stone type, joint width, location, moisture exposure, and project requirements.

ET-222 can be used for compatible natural stone applications on suitable cement-based substrates. Because natural stones differ significantly in porosity, density, colour, absorption, thickness, and surface characteristics, the suitability of the adhesive should be evaluated for the specific stone being installed.

For sensitive, porous, translucent, light-coloured, or high-value natural stone, a small trial application is recommended before full-scale installation to confirm:

• Adhesion between stone and substrate
• Appearance and colour compatibility
• Staining or shadowing behaviour
• Stone absorption characteristics
• Required adhesive coverage
• Overall installation performance

ET-222 is suitable for compatible tile and natural stone applications in low-light areas and locations with limited direct sunlight exposure, subject to proper substrate preparation and recommended installation practices.

Suitable examples may include covered balconies, sheltered walls, semi-covered areas, interior corridors, shaded areas, and other locations where direct solar exposure is limited.

For applications subjected to prolonged direct sunlight, significant thermal movement, highly exposed façades, or severe environmental conditions, the complete installation system should be evaluated according to project requirements.

• Use clean water for mixing.
• Follow the recommended water dosage.
• Do not add excess water to the adhesive.
• Do not add water after the adhesive has started setting.
• Do not remix partially set material by adding additional water.
• Do not use adhesive that has developed a surface skin.

• Ensure adequate adhesive coverage between the substrate and tile or stone.
• Protect freshly installed tiles and stone from excessive movement and impact.

• For wet areas, use a suitable waterproofing system wherever required by the project specification.

Store ET-222 in a cool, dry, and covered area away from direct moisture, water, and excessive humidity. Keep the product in its original sealed packaging until use. Do not store bags directly on wet floors or in areas exposed to rain or moisture.
